Q1: Why aren't notifications working in the background?
Background notifications require proper permissions. Please check:
- iOS: Go to Settings → Notifications → ProWorkout Builder and ensure "Allow Notifications" is enabled
- Android: Go to Settings → Apps → ProWorkout Builder → Notifications and enable all notification categories
- Make sure Do Not Disturb mode is not enabled
- Ensure the app has permission to run in the background
Q2: Can I use the timer while watching videos?
Yes! That's exactly what ProWorkout Builder's intelligent background mode is designed for. Start your workout, switch to your video app (YouTube, Netflix, etc.), and we'll notify you when it's time to change exercises or take a rest.
Q3: How do I create a custom workout?
There are two ways to create workouts:
- From scratch: Tap the + button at the bottom right of the workouts screen, then add your exercises with custom durations and rest periods
- Copy existing: Swipe left on any existing workout and tap "Copy", then edit the copied workout to customize it
Q4: How do I edit existing workouts?
Swipe left on any workout in your list and tap the "Edit" button to modify exercises, durations, or add new steps.
Q5: What's the difference between a Set and an Exercise?
- Exercise: A single movement or activity (e.g., "Push-ups", "Plank Hold")
- Set: A group of exercises that repeat together as a unit (e.g., "Upper Body Circuit" containing Push-ups, Plank, and Mountain Climbers that repeat 3 times)
Sets are useful for organizing related exercises and repeating entire circuits multiple times.
Q6: What's the difference between Timed and Self-Paced exercises?
- Timed Exercise: Runs for a specific duration (e.g., "30-second Plank Hold"). The timer counts down and automatically moves to the next step
- Self-Paced Exercise: You control when it ends (e.g., "Push-ups (10-15 reps)"). Tap the screen when you're finished to move to the next step
Self-paced exercises are perfect for strength training where you want to complete a specific number of repetitions at your own pace.
Q7: How do I reorder workouts, exercises, or sets?
Swipe right on any item to reveal the reorder controls:
- Use the up/down arrow buttons to move items in your preferred order
- This works for workouts in your main list, exercises within a workout, and exercises within a set
- Changes are saved automatically
Q8: Can I use this for Tabata or HIIT workouts?
Absolutely! ProWorkout Builder is perfect for:
- Tabata: Set 20-second exercises with 10-second rest periods
- HIIT: Create any work/rest interval combination
- EMOM: Use 60-second intervals with self-paced exercises
- Circuit Training: Group exercises into sets with custom timing
